The Town of Westerly is receiving 300 pre-packaged meals on Friday from the University of Rhode Island for the region to include Westerly, Richmond, Charlestown, Hopkinton, and Exeter. The Town will distribute these meals from the Westerly Senior Center between the hours of 11:00AM – 1:00PM. This is available for at least the next several Fridays.
The Town has several volunteers from the clergy association who will be assisting in delivering meals to individuals that are quarantined, older adults, immunocompromised, or otherwise homebound. The meals are pre-packaged with instructions on how to re-heat the meals in a microwave or oven.
Some of the meals will be going to the Jonnycake Center, the WARM Shelter, and RICAN for distribution and pick-up.
If you are in the region and interested in picking up a meal at the Westerly Senior Center please go to www.westerlyri.gov/meal to sign up for a meal so we can ensure we have enough meals for everyone. Please also use this link if you need a delivery and are in Westerly. If you cannot access a computer to sign up please call the Westerly Senior Center at 401-596-2404 to provide your information. If you need to leave a message please provide your name, address, and return telephone number. Sign-ups are requested by noon on Thursday.
