[ARCHIVED] National Grid's Community Initiative to save energy

We are pleased to announce that Westerly is participating in National Grid's Community Initiative to save energy. Our goal is to complete 164 no-cost home energy assessments by December 31, 2019. If Westerly residents reach this goal, the town will be awarded up to $20,000 toward an energy-efficiency community project, specifically renovations at the Westerly Senior Center.

National Grid customers who live in 1-4 unit homes and apartments are eligible for a no-cost assessment every three years.  As part of your assessment, you may be eligible for the following:

•    Save up to $75 on a Wi-Fi programmable thermostat.
•    No-cost LED light bulbs, faucet aerators, showerheads, and advanced power strips.
•    At least 75% off approved insulation improvements up to $4,000.
•    No-cost targeted air sealing.
•    Rebates and financing available for mini-split heat pumps.
•    0% interest heat loan.
•    No-cost recycling of a fridge or freezer, plus a $50 reward.

Schedule your assessment today. Visit or call 1-888-633-7947.

Additional energy efficiency goals for Westerly include:

•    131 Wi-Fi thermostats installed
•    94 Weatherization projects completed
•    131 Refrigerators recycled
•    5 Homes converted to air source heat pumps

The energy specialist who visits your home will help you determine what improvements make the most sense for you. Qualified upgrades may include hot water and heating systems, adding insulation, thermostats and other weatherization improvements. Learn more at

These programs are funded by the energy efficiency charge on all customers' gas and electric bills, in accordance with Rhode Island law.
