[ARCHIVED] Town Welcomes New Hire

Dyann Baker from Gales Ferry, Connecticut, has been selected as Westerly’s next Director of Finance.


Ms. Baker will start her new role on Monday, June 4, 2018.


Dyann has previously worked for Mitchell College where she was the Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration.  As a member of the President’s Cabinet, she was responsible for maintaining and improving key financial indicators for the college, managing contracts for physical facilities, dining services and institutional technology.  She was also responsible for preparing annual and quarterly financial statements and policy development and reviewing with emphasis on tax and financial reporting requirements.  Dyann also refinanced long-term debt and established grant accounting policies and procedures and was responsible for developing the college-wide annual budget.  Prior to working at Mitchell College, Dyann held positions as a Senior Accountant and Financial Analyst.   Dyann is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Connecticut.  Dyann has a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of New Haven where she graduated Magna cum laude and she has a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Haven where she graduated Magna cum laude. 


As the Director of Finance, Dyann will be responsible for directing all municipal financial functions which includes program responsibility for accounting/auditing, accounts payables/receivables, budget, fiscal grants management, purchasing and tax collections.  She will also be responsible for formulating broad policies and coordinating fiscal activities among Town Departments.
