[ARCHIVED] Town Welcomes New Hires

Kenia Lopez Caballeros from East Hampton, Connecticut, has been selected as Westerly’s next Senior Accountant.


Ms. Lopez Caballeros will start her new role on Monday, December 4, 2017.


Kenia has worked at BDO USA, LLP as a Senior Assurance Associate at both the Los Angeles and Stamford offices. In her role, she was responsible for teaching audit methodologies, and performing detailed reviews to ensure adherence to firm policy, US GAAP, and auditing standards.  She was also responsible for reviewing and managing the appropriate presentation of financial statements and disclosures in accordance with US GAAP. Kenia is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of California.


“I’m pleased to announce Kenia’s appointment as Senior Accountant.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this key position within the Finance Department.” stated Barbara Perino, Interim Director of Finance.


As the Senior Accountant, she will be responsible for performing complex accounting duties and the maintenance of accounting standards.  She will also be responsible for assisting the Director of Finance in managing the day to day operations of the Finance Department.


David Singer from Westerly, Rhode Island, has been selected as Westerly’s next Light Equipment Operator.


Mr. Singer will start his new role on Monday, December 4, 2017.


David has worked at Crystal Rock LLC where he maintains and operates a delivery route to approximately 300 customers.  Prior to that, David was a Sergeant in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne Division – Airborne Infantry, where he received an army commendation medal, multiple army achievement medals and a good conduct medal.  David possesses a Class A commercial driver’s license and is fork lift certified in the State of Connecticut.  David received his Bachelor of Applied Arts in Outdoor Recreation from Central Michigan University.


“Mr. Singer will be a welcome addition to our excellent work force. I look forward to having Mr. Singer’s talents and experience in the years to come,” said Paul G. Corina, Director of Public Works.


As a Light Equipment Operator, he will be responsible for performing manual labor associated with the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of town properties including duties assigned to the position of laborer.  He will also be responsible for operating a variety of light equipment including a roll-off truck, dumb trucks, tractor trailer truck, pickups, street sweepers and others.
