[ARCHIVED] Town Welcomes New Hire

Eduardo Giron from Providence, Rhode Island, has been selected as Westerly’s next Associate Engineer.


Mr. Giron will start his new role on Monday, August 28, 2017.


Eduardo has worked for Terracon as a field engineer.  In his role, Eduardo was responsible for concrete testing, soil explorations and sampling, site plan creations, elevation and plan view details, field and geotechnical reports and trench shield and utility support design.  Eduardo’s senior capstone project was in Westerly, where he partnered with BETA Engineering where he assisted in designing the intersection at Airport and Winnapaug Rd and assisted in designing the parking lot for the beach pavilion.  Eduardo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Rhode Island.  Eduardo also recently passed his Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam


“We are excited to have someone with Eduardo’s experience and skills, particularly in the areas of AutoCad and MicroStation, to assist the Engineering Department in developing plans, getting projects out to bid, and overseeing construction,” said Town Engineer Sheila McGauvran. “He will also be taking the lead on the wastewater side with the Industrial Pretreatment Program, and on the Drinking Water side by managing the Backflow Prevention program.”


As the Associate Engineer, he will be responsible for assisting the Town Engineer in engineering functions by collecting field data, performing surveying functions, developing and reviewing plans, performing construction inspections, making data measurements, drafting comments for various boards and assisting in regulatory compliance.
