Our DPW workers have been hard at work since Sunday evening to get us all dug out from this historic storm. A significant amount of snow fell on top of the snow that was left over from previous storms !
As is the situation with ALL RI communities, the impacts of this storm have severely stressed our available resources, and the large amount of snow requires special equipment to remove it in some areas. Municipal leaders are in frequent communication with neighboring communities and State officials. Requests have been placed with the State to send additional equipment as it becomes available, but it will take time.
Crews are primarily working to clear a single lane of traffic on all roadways and intersections by this evening. Once that is complete, crews will return clear additional snow to widen the lanes of travel. We ask that you please be patient as they continue their efforts to clear the roads. It is no easy task,
Our staff is doing their very best and putting in extremely long hours to try to get the job done.
The Town encourages you to stay off the roads if possible to allow our crews to work and keep everyone safe.
