Dave Murphy is the Building Official for the Town of Westerly RI. In 1984 he served three years in the US Army and started construction directly after. In 2000 he became a building inspector in Charlestown RI.

In 2002 he was hired in Westerly for a short stint as the Minimum Housing Official and then moved into the Alternate Building Official position and was promoted to Building Official in 2011 to present, he is also on the State Building Code Standards Committee where variances and appeals are heard. They also review and recommend code adoption. Dave is a Certified Building Official in the State of Rhode Island. Dave prides himself with a strong work ethic and enjoys working and working with the community and contractors to facilitate construction projects throughout the town.

As the Building Official, Dave is responsible for managing and maintaining all request for construction and trade permits, inspections and record keeping of permits throughout the Town.
