Dave Thompson presently serves as the Town Assessor.

Dave has over 35 years of real estate valuation experience with over twenty-two years working in municipal government. Dave started with the Town of Westerly as the Senior Appraiser and was promoted to Town Assessor with the retirement of his predecessor. Prior to working for the town Dave had been a real estate appraiser since 1987. He still maintains a license as a Certified Appraiser through the State of Rhode Island, and he is also a Rhode Island Certified Assessor (RICA). Dave has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Rhode Island, and has studied toward a master’s degree in Elementary Education at Rhode Island College.

Dave is a Westerly native and lives in town with his wife, Michele. He has a daughter in Chicago, and two sons in D.C. He also has a step-son in Pawcatuck, CT, and a step-daughter in D.C.
